How long does it take to build an application?
A focused first release with authentication, core workflows and administration tools typically takes several months. Timelines are most often affected by decision-making availability, third-party integrations and scope changes, so we agree and document what the first release includes and excludes.
A typical first release follows this sequence: discovery and specification, design running slightly ahead of development, iterative builds you can review, a hardening period and release. The hardening period should not be shortened, as it prevents costly issues after launch.
Integration work is scheduled early, as third-party systems with limited documentation or unreliable test environments can introduce delays.
App store review adds time to mobile projects. We plan for at least one review cycle.
The most effective way to shorten a timeline is to reduce the scope of the first release rather than add more people. This puts the product in front of users sooner, and their feedback informs the next release.
