Frequently asked questions
Who is the internship for?
The programme is for people who can already build something and want experience of working with real users, deadlines and code review. This includes students in the later stages of a degree, recent graduates and self-taught career changers who want experience of working in an existing codebase to professional standards. A formal computing qualification is not required, but evidence of completed work is.
What will I learn?
The programme offers five tracks: Frontend Engineering, Backend Engineering, UI/UX Design, SEO & Growth, and 3D & Motion. Each involves real project work. Technical skills are track-specific, for example React, Next.js, TypeScript and accessibility on the frontend track, or Node, PostgreSQL, API design and authentication on the backend track. Every track also develops professional practices that apply across the industry.
Is the internship paid?
It depends on the cohort. Each cohort is announced as either paid or unpaid when it opens, and the terms are confirmed in writing before you accept a place.
How do I apply, and what does the process look like?
Apply through the form on the internships page. It asks for your contact details, education, ranked track preferences, links to your work, availability and a short written statement about your chosen track. Each application is reviewed individually and progresses through screening, an interview and a decision. Every applicant receives a response.
What happens when the internship ends?
On completion, you receive a portfolio of work you can present, a certificate with a unique identifier that can be verified publicly, and a reference from your mentor. Some interns are offered paid work with Panzex, and most go on to roles elsewhere.
